Inn · Cornwall

Nine rooms, a granite headland, and the wind off the working quay.

Saltwind is a small inn, not a resort. We keep a fire in the hall, serve breakfast to guests, and send you out with a key to the side door after dark.

Sleep

Named for the weather, not for a brand deck

Gale

A double on the windward corner. Shutters, a writing table, and the shipping lane at first light.

Neap

A quieter twin looking into the yard. Good for two nights and a stack of books.

Lee

The largest room. A sitting alcove, harbour windows, and a bath that takes its time.

Drift

A single under the eaves. For one person who wants the stairs and a skylight.

How a night runs

Keys, not apps

  • Arrive after three. The side door stays on a code after nine.
  • Breakfast is for guests in the front room. No à la carte spa menu.
  • We hold two nights as a minimum on summer weekends.
  • Dogs by note, not as a default. The quay is a working one.

The table

Breakfast, then the rest of the town

We cook for the house, not for walk-ins. Coffee, bread, and whatever the boat or the farm sent.

Oats and cream

with last autumn's damson

Eggs from the lane

on toasted soda, kelp butter

Smoked mackerel

when the smoker is lit

The headland

A working quay, not a postcard

The inn sits above the slip. You will hear engines before breakfast and gulls after it. The coastal path starts at the end of the lane.

  • Quay to church, twelve minutes
  • Headland loop, forty
  • Padstow by bus, when it runs
